Owls Host Two Conference Matches This Week

The Owls will host two games this week.

The Southern Connecticut State University's women's soccer team will host two conference matchups this week. First, No. 8 nationally ranked Adelphi will travel to New Haven for a 7 p.m. match on Wednesday night. Then, AIC will travel to Jess Dow Field for a Saturday matinee against the Owls at noon.

ALL-TIME VS. ADELPHI
The teams are tied in the all-time series with a record of 5-5-3.

The Owls hold a 13-7-1 all-time record against AIC.

WEEKLY HONORS FOR ARRUDA
Senior Gabrielle Arruda was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on Sept. 18 for her play in the Owls' games against New Haven and Saint Rose.

ARRUDA SHINES IN GOAL
Gabrielle Arruda has been stellar in between the pipes. She surpassed her career-best in saves this season (10 saves, 12 saves) and currently leads the conference in saves with 47. 

GOING FOR THE GOAL
Juniors Juliana Santos and Olivia Holubecki both scored their first collegiate points in the Owls' 2-1 win over Saint Michael's. Holubecki opened the scoring, where she struck off of a corner kick and then Santos blasted a rebound for the game-winner. 

SANTOS NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL 
Juliana Santos was also named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on Sept. 11 for her performance in the Owls' 2-1 win over Saint Mike's. 

LEADING THE SQUAD
Senior Hannah Bodner will return to captain the squad alongside junior co-captain Mikaela Magee for the 2017 season.
 
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASON
The Owls finished the 2016 season with a 9-7-3 record and qualified for the NE-10 Conference Tournament, where they fell to Pace, 1-0 in the first round.

ARRUDA ANCHORS THE GOAL
All-Conference performer Gabrielle Arruda will return to the goal after a 2016 season that saw her sport an 8-6-3 with a 1.21 goals against average, .763 save percentage, and four shutouts.
