The Southern Connecticut gymnastics team will host the College at Brockport and Rhode Island College for its 2019 home opener on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. at the James Moore Field House.
THEIR LAST TIME OUT
- The Owls are coming off a matchup at Brown on Monday, Jan. 21 in which the Bears narrowly edged out the Owls, 192.850-189-625.
- Cassidy Girolamo was the only athlete at the meet to compete in all four events and totaled an all-around score of 38.350. Girolamo posted a team-high 9.675 in the vault while finishing third. She also scored a 9.650 in the beam, a 9.625 in the floor exercise and a 9.400 on the bars.
- Cadi Borsellino finished third on the uneven bars with a 9.650, while also registering a 9.550 on the vault and a 9.350 on the floor exercise.
- In her only event of the night in the Owls matchup against Brown, Keara Loughlin posted a team-leading 9.750 on the balance beam, which stood as the third-best score at the meet.
- In her only event at the Owls match against Brown, Jackie Kutcher posted a season-best 9.625 on the bars. It was Kutcher's best score in the event since her 9.650 against Bridgeport during her freshman year.
LOCKED IN ON THE VAULT
- Through its first two meets of the 2019 season, the Owls have showcased the vault as their strength early on.
- At the Bridgeport meet, the Owls compiled a cumulative score of 47.975 - its highest of its four scores - while all five scoring athletics had a 9.525-or-higher.
- Against Brown, the Owls tallied a 48.075 - its highest cumulative score this season in any event - with all six competitors posting a 9.425 or higher.
NO STALLING STAHLBRODT
- Freshman stand-out Hannah Stahlbrodt kicked off her collegiate career with the fifth-best all-around score at Bridgeport's quad meet.
- Against Brown, Stahlbrodt posted the Owls' highest score of the meet with a 9.750 on the floor exercise for the second-highest score between the two teams.
THE SPECIALISTS
- Keara Loughlin, Jackie Kutcher and Morgan Gatewood have excelled as specialists through the Owls two meets.
- At the Bridgeport meet, Gatewood scored a team-high 9.675 in the balance beam event for an eighth place finish.
- Against Brown, Loughlin posted the Owls' highest score of the meet with a 9.750 on the balance beam to finish third overall while Kutcher tallied a 9.625 on the parallel bars for a tie of fourth place.

The Owls will compete in a Don Tonry Invitational hosted by Yale University at Payne Whitney Gymnasium in New Haven, Conn. The Owls will compete against the Bulldogs as well as the University of Bridgeport and Springfield College. Live video of the event will be available on ESPN+.
