WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics standouts Gabriela Dinisoe and Abby Royer competed at the 2026 WCGNIC Championship Event Finals at West Chester University.
Dinisoe finished tied for fifth out of the 11 gymnasts in the Balance Beam event with a 9.7625 while Abby Royer posted a 9.800 in the Floor Exercise and finished seventh.
In addition to their competion during the event finals, both student-athletes earned WCGNIC All-America First Team honors. Hannah Fitzgerald earned All-American Vault Second Team honors while Libby Allen earned All-American Floor Second Team honors.
For Dinisoe, it was her second All-American honor on the balance beam in as many years after earning First Team accolades with a fourth place finish last season. Allen also earned First Team honors in 2025 and was also a USAG All-American First Team standout in 2024. It was Fitzgerald's first All-American nod of her two-year career. The Owls sophomore led Southern in the Vault event with a 9.725 during Friday's preliminary round. Allen finished tied for seventh in the Floor Exercise event with a 9.750.
This was Royer's first time competing at the WCNICs. The senior Floor Exercise specialist will now prepare for competition at the 2026 NCAA National Championships Regional in Lexington, Ky. On Apr. 2, 2026. Royer is the first SCSU gymnast to qualify for the NCAAs since 1997.
