Women's Track and Field Finish Day One of the New England Championships in Fifth Place

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's track and field squad opened day one of the New England Championships at Jess Dow Field. The Owls sit in fifth place out of 24 with 13 points after one full day of competition.

Track Events

Redshirt-senior Briana Burt (Meriden, Conn.) qualified for the 100-meter hurdle finals after placing third overall with a time of 13.72 seconds.
Redshirt-senior Brooke Krohley (Bethany, Conn.) qualified for the 400-meter dash finals as she took fifth place in the preliminary round with a time of 56.50 seconds.
Oceana Williams (Cranston, R.I.) qualified for the 100-meter dash finals after placing fifth in the preliminary round with a time of 12.14 seconds.

Field Events

Erin McKee (Brookfield, Conn.) captured the New England Championship in the hammer throw just a week after capturing the Northeast 10 Championship. She finished with a toss of 53.76 meters, which was .02 meters ahead of the second-place finisher from RIC.
Caylea Landrie (Danbury, Conn.) finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.66 meters.
