The undefeated Southern Connecticut women's soccer team heads to Rindge, N.H. on Saturday, Sept. 14 to take on nationally-ranked No. 14 Franklin Pierce in its first Northeast 10 Conference matchup of 2019. The Owls enter the game at 2-0-0 while Franklin Pierce is 1-1-0 on the season.

THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
  • Southern is coming off back-to-back wins at the SNHU Tournament, including a 1-0 win against nationally-ranked No. 2 Bridgeport and a 2-0 win against Saint Thomas Aquinas.
  • Allie Smith was perfect in goal for the Owls, recording seven saves against the defending NCAA champs in the first game of the season before stopping STAC's only bid in the second game of the weekend.
  • Rossella Graniero scored the back-breaker against Bridgeport, while Kaitlyn D'Amico and Kelly Lamb both scored against STAC.

ALL-TIME AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCE
Southern is 5-22 all time against Franklin Pierce. Last year, the Owls lost 2-1 in the final regular season game before the NE10 Tournament. Greta Brunello scored her second career goal in the game.


ALLIE SMITH NAMED NE10 GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Southern Connecticut women's soccer stand-out Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) was named the Northeast 10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. 


NOTES
  • The last time Southern posted back-to-back wins to start the season was 2012, while 2011 saw the Owls start the year with back-to-back shutouts.
  • Smith enters the weekend with a shutout streak of 180 minutes.
  • The longest shutout streak to start a season in program history was set by Jacquelyn Frede in 2011 who posted seven-straight clean sheets before allowing a goal in the 68th minute in her eighth game of the year to give her a run of 698:20 minutes without allowing a goal.
  • D'Amico's goal was her first of the season and fourth of her career.
  • Lamb goal was the first of her career, while her assist on D'Amico's goal was her third of her career.
  • Wahlen also picks up her first point of the season.
