FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Southern Connecticut men's swimming & diving finished second out of five teams at the Fairfield Invitational, hosted by Fairfield University and featuring Central Connecticut, Wagner, Sacred Heart and Manhattan.
200 Meter Medley Relay
The men's 200 meter medley relay team of
Chandler Tucker,
Mason Wilde,
Mike Aiello and
Henry Velazquez finished fourth with a time of 1:51.79.
800 Meter Freestyle
Matt Thompson finished fifth in the 800 Free with a time of 9:35.98 followed by
Christopher Roewer at 9:49.85.
200 Meter Freestyle
Franklin Kuhn and
Henry Velazquez finished third and fourth in the 200 Meter Freestyle while freshman Samir Soudi was seventh. Kuhn completed the race in 2:00.84 while Velazquez touched at 2:03.15. Soudi posted a 2:06.11.
100 Meter Backstroke
J.D. Starkey finished ninth out of 14 in the 100 Back with a time of 1:03.54.
100 Meter Breaststroke
Chandler Tucker posted a third-place finish in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:06.35 while
Kobe Dominguez was eighth at 1:09.77.
200 Meter Butterfly
Mason Wilde led the Owls in the 200 Fly with a fifth place finish at 2:19.76.
Derek Melanson was sixth at 2:22.36 while
Dylan Prescher finished in seventh at 2:28.85.
50 Meter Freestyle
In a field of 22 swimmers, Velazquez finished ninth in the 50 Free with a time of 25.72.
100 Meter Freestyle
Wilde led the Owls for the second time in the competition with a sixth-place finish, out of 23, in the 100 Free with a time of 55.32.
200 Meter Backstroke
Collin Doyle finished seventh in the 200 Back with a time of 2:29.15.
200 Meter Breaststroke
Kobe Dominquez finished fifth in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:42.59.
400 Meter Freestyle
Kuhn posted his second top-five time of the meet when he finished fourth in the 400 Free with a time of 4:25.21. Soudi finished sixth at 4:28.58.
100 Meter Butterfly
Derek Melanson was fifth in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:04.00.
200 Meter Individual Medley
Tucker finished fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.38.
400 Meter Freestyle Relay
The 400 Free relay team of Tucker, Kuhn, Prescher and Thompson finished third with a time of 3:39.73.
