NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut's graduate Student Amanda Dustin (Marshfield, Mass.) was named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches Division II All-East Region Third Team.
Captain Amanda Dustin previously received Second Team All-Conference accolades for the second consecutive season by the Northeast 10 Conference as she established herself as one of the best defenders in the conference. She was also named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators for her combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Dustin finished the 2022 campaign with one goal and one assist to help the Owls finish fourth in Northeast 10 standings. A stronghold in the Owls' defensive backline, center back Amanda Dustin helped contribute to a 1.18 goals-against average and to seven shutouts while playing nearly every minute of the season totaling 1,506 minutes. Dustin anchored the Owls defense that allowed the third-fewest goals in conference play, limiting the opposition to nine goals in 12 games.
On the attack, Dustin's first point came in the second game of the season where the Owls took a 2-0 victory over the College of Staten Island. In the 62nd minute, a foul was drawn by Alexie Rosado (North Branford, Conn.) along the touchline by Southern's bench. Taylor Hennig (Farmington, Conn.) stepped up to dish a free kick into the scrum where Dustin rose above the crowd and headed the pass past the Dolphins' keeper for the Owls' first goal of the 2022 season. She added an assist on Julia Alicea's (Columbia, Conn.) game-tying goal against Southern New Hampshire. Dustin found Alicea on a perfectly placed long ball from the back third to set Alicea up to combine with Kelsey Burr (Wallingford, Conn.) to give Southern the draw.
