SCSU Men's Soccer Falls To St. Michael's, 3-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut men's soccer lost to St. Michael's, 3-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the loss, Southern dropped to 2-7-2 overall and 1-5-0 in NE10 play while St. Michael's improved to 4-4-4 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play.

Karim Said scored his first goal of the season while Umberto Catale picked up his second assist of the year.

St. Michael's opened the scoring with a pair of first half goals. With just under 35 minutes to play, Southern broke through with a goal from Said. St. Michael's was able to break up a corner set by the Owls, but Ozar Razo picked up a loose ball above the box and sent a pass to Matt Surrete, whose header was knocked down in traffic. Catale came up with the loose ball, drew the keeper and another defender before sliding a pass to Karim Said who one-touched it inside the opposite post.

Saint Michael's responded two minutes later to push its lead back to two goals, 3-1.

The Owls are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption before returning home to host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. Following the Owls tilt against SNHU, SCSU Men's Soccer will host a reception and unveiling of the Raymond, Sr. and Joan Reid SCSU Men's Soccer Wall of Excellence.
