Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hilpert's Goal Lifts SCSU Men's Soccer To 1-0 Win Against Bentley, Clinches NE10 Berth

Yannick Hilpert's goal with two minutes gave the SCSU Men's Soccer team a stunning 1-0 win against Bentley, and clinched the sixth seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

Southern entered the game tied for eighth with Southern New Hampshire University. After the Owls defeated the Penmen, 3-1 on Oct. 21, they head the tiebreaker meaning they needed to match the Penmen's effort against AIC tonight. With SNHU leading, Southern was staring down the end of its season before Hilpert's heroics in the closing minutes. He now stands at five goals for the season, all of which have come in the Owls last four games of which they are 3-0-1.

The Owl's defense, which has allowed the second-fewest goals in the NE10 this season (16) stifled the Bentley offense. Southern's goalkeeper Devin Juan needed to stop just one shot on goal for his fifth shutout of the season.

The Owls will travel to Garden City, NY to face No.3 seeded Adelphi University on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6pm.
