SCSU Men's Soccer Battles No. 1 Franklin Pierce In 1-0 Loss

RINDGE, N.H.—Southern Connecticut men's soccer saw a back-and-forth battle with nationally-ranked No. 1 Franklin Pierce end in a 1-0 decision for the defending National Champions. With the loss, the Owls moved to 2-6-1 and 1-4-0 in NE10 play while Franklin Pierce moved to 9-0 and 5-0 in conference action.  

"Tonight we learned a lot about who we have the potential to be when effort, commitment, understanding and execution are not something that is negotiable within yourself nor the guy next to you," head coach Kevin Anderson said. "Now the opportunity is to uphold that standard in everything that we do. All the details matter."
 
The Owls received a gutsy performance from goalkeeper Devin Juan, who turned away the first 13 shots the Ravens fired on goal, before the 14th broke a scoreless tie in the 82nd minute of play.


 
Southern is back in action when it travels to on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. The Owls will return to Jess Dow Field to take on Saint Michael's college on Oct 13 at 3 p.m.
