WORCESTER, Mass. - Southern Connecticut Men's Swimming & Diving completed the first day of the 2023 Northeast 10 Conference Championships in first place with 91 points.
The 800 Freestyle Relay team of McAlister Milne, Henry Velazquez, Franklin Kuhn and Chandler Tucker made a statement in the Owls' first race of the NE10 Conference Championship. The team won Gold with a championships record time of 6:41.44, breaking the previous record set in 2022 by Southern Connecticut of 6:45.56. The Owls' B Team of Mason Wilde, Michael Aiello, Jack Fry, and Collin Doyle finished second in their heat with a time of 7:05.23
In the 1,000 Freestyle, Southern placed two swimmers in the top five highlighted by a first-placed finish and Gold Medal for Dylan Prescher who posted a time of 9:45.50, and a third-place finish and Bronze Medal for Samir Souidi who posted a time of 9:54.53. Aiden Kennedy finished eighth at 10:10.70, Nicholas Zerva finished eleventh at 10:18.53, and Christopher Roewer finished thirteenth at 10:25.80.
The 2023 NE10 Championships continue on Friday, Feb. 10 with preliminary rounds in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley and 50 Freestyle set for 10:15 a.m. with finals set for 6 p.m.
