Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Karlie Rowe Scores 100th Career Goal As SCSU Women's Lacrosse Defeats Saint Michael's, 17-2

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse defeated Saint Michael's, 17-2, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Savannah College of Arts and Design in Savannah, Ga. The Owls win is its first in NE10 play this season as they improved to 1-2 in conference action and 4-2 overall.

The Owls' 15-goal win is its largest margin of victory against a NE10 program all-time, eclipsing the previously high of 12 against American International in 2007, 20-8. Bayleigh Takacs (Sparta, N.J.) and Karlie Rowe (Niantic, Conn.) each scored three goals each, while Takacs added three assists for a team-high six points. Rowe also had an assist for a four-point afternoon. In goal, Caelan Connors (Holbrook, N.Y.) stopped five of Saint Michael's seven shots on goal to improve to 4-2 on the year.

Rowe's second goal of the game made her the sixth player in program history to reach 100 career goals. Her four points give her 131 for her career, which is good for fourth all-time. Takac's three assists give her 48 for her career and move her past Samantha Cozzolino '19 for second place in program history.

Rowe and Takacs scored the Owls first four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game before junior defender Hannah Holmes scored her first career goal to give Southern a 5-0 lead through the first quarter. Rowe scored again in the opening minute of the second half before Alexandra Ruel (Ivoryton, Conn.) scored the first of her two goals in a five-minute, with markers from Kirsten McIntire (Nashua, N.H.) and Savannah Feinberg (Sound Beach, N.Y.) in between. Takacs and Morgan Reilly (Stratford, Conn.) also found the back of the net in the second quarter as the Owls took a 12-0 lead into the break.

Coming out of half, Feinberg, McIntire and Reilly all scored again while Kelly Jagodzinski (Stamford, Conn.) also got in on the action. In total, the Owls scored 16 unanswered goals through the third quarter before Saint Michael's got on the board. Saint Michael's Sophia Lynch made it 16-1 before Owls freshman Allie Palmer (Fairfield, Conn.) scored to push Southern's lead back to 16. The Purple Knights' Catie Murphy scored in the closing minutes to cap the afternoon.
