Southern Connecticut softball will travel to Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Mar. 24 for a Northeast 10 Conference doubleheader against Assumption. The Owls enter the game with a record of 4-8 overall while Assumption is 7-5 for the year. Both teams will be playing their first conference action of the season.

The Owls' Last Time Out
Southern split a non-conference doubleheader against Post, as the Eagles took the first game, 6-4, before the Owls bounced back with a 6-1 win in the nightcap. Jessica Perucki (West Milford, N.J.) made an appearance in both ends of the doubleheader as she entered into the first game and logged 1 2/3 of scoreless softball while holding the Eagles hitless and striking out five. She got the start in the second game and picked up the win after holding Post to a single run on five hits while striking out eight.  At the plate, Jacqueline Dumont (Nashua, N.H.) was 3-for-6 with three RBI in the doubleheader while also hitting her third home run of the season in the night cap.
 
Owls Notes
  • Named the NE10 Player of the Week on Mar. 20, Jacqueline Dumont is on a tear to start the season. The Owls' All-American is hitting .553 (21-38) while leading the team in home runs (2), RBI (15), slugging percentage (.789) and on-base percentage (.548). She is also second on the Owls' roster with three doubles and eight runs scored.
  • Katrina Roy is hitting .444 (16-36) with a .472 slugging percentage and a .488 on-base percentage. Roy has also driven in seven runs and scored six more.
  • Gabby Festa is off to a hot start to her second year with the Owls. Festa is hitting .367 (11-30) while leading the team with four doubles. She's also driven in seven runs.
  • Emily Lange leads the team with nine runs scored while hitting .289 (11-38).
  • Ally Petrella is hitting .310 (9-29) with eight runs scored.
  • Jessica Perucki has been dominant on the mound for the Owls. Perucki checks in with a 3-3 record with a 1.82 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, while opponents are hitting just .211 against her. To date, Perucki has 45 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings pitched.
  • In her last five appearances, she has given up four earned runs in 27 2/3 innings pitched for a 1.03 ERA with 39 strikeouts.
  • Perucki has also reached base safely in six-straight games at the plate.
