SCSU Women's Lacrosse Falls To New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse lost to New Haven, 19-12, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in West Haven, Conn. Southern dropped to 7-6 overall and 3-6 in the NE10 while New Haven improved to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Brianna Shaw (Branford, Conn.) scored a career-best five goals while adding an assist for a six-point night. Shaw also posted three draw controls, three caused turnovers and a pair of groundball while converting on all three of her free-position shots. Morgan Reilly (Stratford, Conn.) had two goals and an assist while Karlie Rowe (Niantic, Conn.) scored twice.

New Haven opened with a 6-0 run over the first 7:38 of the game before Bayleigh Takacs (Sparta, N.J.) finally got the Owls on the board. New Haven responded with three unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of play.

In the second, Shaw and Rowe scored in the quarters first five minutes to cut into New Haven's lead, 9-3. The Chargers rattled off four-straight goals to take a 13-3 lead before Kirsten McIntire and Reilly both scored. New Haven led, 14-5, to head into the half.

Coming out of the half, Southern outscored New Haven, 3-1, over the periods first six minutes as Shaw, Reilly and Savannah Feinberg scored. New Haven countered with three-straight goals before Shaw scored with :23 seconds to play in the quarter. In the fourth, Southern outscored the Chargers, 3-1, with Shaw scoring twice as well as Rowe, but New Haven held on for the win.
