Southern Connecticut field hockey lost Mansfield, 7-3, in the Owls season-opener in the Dora Metrelis Classic at Jess Dow Field.
Trinidad Rodriguez Ricchiuti scored her first goal of the season to give the Owls an early lead, but Mansfield countered to break a 1-1 first quarter tie with a five-goal second.Â
In the fourth quarter, Tori Geaglone scored her first of the season while Meghan Tillona scored her first career goal.Â
Southern returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 3 for the final game of its home tournament when it faces Kutztown at 1:30 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.Â
