NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut field hockey rolled to a 7-3 win against St. Thomas Aquinas in a matchup at Jess Dow Field. The Owls picked up their first victory of the season to improve to 1-2 on the year while the Trojans dropped to 0-3.
Six different Owls scored led by fifth year student Tori Geaglone who scored twice to give her a season-leading three for the year. Freshman Kyla Hart-Perron scored her first career goal and also added two assists while Trinidad Rodriguez Ricchiuti had a goal and an assist. Natalia Fiato, a transfer from American International, scored her first goal as an Owl while also adding an assist.
In addition to Hart-Perron's first career goal, junior Cierra Brundage and freshman Ruby Webb also added their first career markers. In goal, Rachel Miller stopped six of STAC's nine shots on goal.
Southern's seven goals were its most in a game since a 7-0 win against American International on Sept. 5, 2002.
Southern returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 9 when it travels to Rindge, N.H. to take on Franklin Pierce for its Northeast-10 Conference opener at 12 p.m.
