PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Southern Connecticut gymnastics recorded a score of 189.025 and came in third place against Oregon State, Rutgers and Utica. Oregon State finished in first place with a score of 195.850, Rutgers finished in second place with a score of 194.650 and Utica finished in fourth place with a score of 176.725 on Saturday, January 13.
The Owls opened their season with some great performances in all of the events. The Owls' highest score came from senior
Jayci Jordan, who came in seventh place on the Uneven Bars with a score of 9.750. Senior
Hanna Zebdi was the top finisher for the Owls on the vault in 13th place with a score of 9.625. Junior
Emelia Diaz recorded a team-best score of 9.675 on the balance beam and came in ninth place. Junior
Libby Allen posted a team-best score of 9.600 on the floor and finished in 13th place. Southern's highest scoring event was the Vault with a total score of 47.600.
VAULT
Southern Connecticut senior
Hanna Zebdi was the top finisher for the Owls on the vault in 13th place with a score of 9.625. Junior
Lexi Bracher recorded a score of 9.575 and finished directly behind her teammate in 14th place. Following behind her two teammates in 15th place, sophomore
Ava Kelly had a score of 9.550. The Owls finished with a total score of 47.600 on the vault.
UNEVEN PARALLEL BARS
Jayci Jordan recorded the highest score of the meet for Southern, with a score of 9.750 and came in seventh place. Freshman
Gigi Mastellone made her debut with a score of 9.700 and came in 11th place. Junior
Shreya Munshi had a score of 9.600 and came in 13th place. Southern Connecticut had a total score of 47.375 on the uneven bars.
BALANCE BEAM
Junior
Emelia Diaz recorded a team-best score of 9.675 on the balance beam and came in ninth place. Junior
Alexa Melanson had a score of 9.550 and finished in 13th place. Senior
Emiley Kahl posted a score of 9.500 in 14th place. The Owls recorded a total score of 46.580 on the balance beam.
FLOOR

Libby Allen posted a team-best score of 9.600 on the floor and finished in 13th place. Junior
Alexa Melanson recorded a score of 9.575 in 14th place. Senior

Erica Beyer posted a score of 9.450 and came in 15th place. Southern Connecticut recorded a total score of 47.200 in the floor exercise.
