PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Southern Connecticut gymnastics posted a score of 191.100 and came in third place in a tri-meet at Brown University with the University of Alaska Anchorage. Brown came in first place with a score of 192.900 and Alaska Anchorage came in second place with a score of 192.425.
The Owls saw some impressive performances in all their events. On the balance beam, junior
Libby Allen matched her career-best and posted the highest score of the day for Southern Connecticut with a score of 9.750 and came in second place overall. In the floor exercise, junior
Alexa Melanson recorded a team-best score of 9.700. On the vault, both senior
Hanna Zebdi and junior
Brianna Dorr recorded a team-best score of 9.725. On the uneven/parallel bars, senior
Jayci Jordan recorded a team-best score of 9.725 and came in second place. The vault was the Owls' highest scoring event, as they recorded a score of 48.350.
BALANCE BEAM
Libby Allen matched her career-best score, with a team-best score of 9.750 and came in fourth place.
Alexa Melanson posted a score of 9.725 and came in seventh place. Junior
Angel Lee recorded a score of 9.675 and came in 11
th place. The Owls posted a total score of 47.750 on the balance beam.
FLOOR EXERCISE
Alexa Melanson recorded a team-best score of a 9.700 in the floor exercise and came in sixth place.
Libby Allen posted a score of 9.675 and came in seventh place.
Ava Kelly recorded a score of 9.600 and came in eleventh place. The Owls recorded a total score of 47.600 in the floor exercise.
VAULT
Hanna Zebdi and
Brianna Dorr recorded a team-best score of 9.725 on the vault and came in third place. Freshmen
Sophia Ruecker and
Kylie Sitty both posted a score of 9.650, and they came in sixth place. Sitty had a career-high score on the vault. Junior
Lexi Bracher had a score of 9.600 and came in 11
th place. The Owls had a total score of 48.350 on the vault.
UNEVEN/PARALLEL BARS
Jayci Jordan recorded a team-best score of 9.725 and came in second place.
Sophia Ruecker posted a a career-high score of 9.675 and came in fourth place. Junior
Shreya Munshi recorded a score of 9.600 and came in eighth place. The Owls had a total score of 47.400 on the uneven/parallel bars.
The Owls return to action on Sunday, February 4
th at 2:00 p.m. in a dual meet in Durham, N.H. against GEC opponent, the University of New Hampshire. Southern Connecticut will honor their Seniors and Alumni on Saturday, February 10
th at 1:00 p.m. in a tri-meet against Rhode Island College and Springfield College in the James Moore Field House.
