Southern Connecticut State University Athletics Names Julianna Wilson Assistant Gymnastics Coach

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University and the Department of Athletics are proud to announce the hiring of Julianna Wilson as Assistant Gymnastics Coach for the Owls women's gymnastics program. 
 
Wilson brings eight years of high-level club coaching experience, specializing in bars, floor, elite development, and college recruitment.

"Her depth of experience coaching Level 8-10 and Xcel Platinum through Diamond, combined with her proven track record as a college recruitment coordinator and program builder, makes her an exceptional fit for our student-athletes. She knows how to develop talent at every stage, from pre-team to elite." 
 
Wilson joins SCSU after most recently serving as Bars and Floor Coach and College Recruitment Coordinator at Star Bound Gymnastics Academy (June 2025 - Present), where she coached all levels on bars from Bronze to Level 10 and Levels 8-10 and Xcel Platinum-Diamond on floor, while assisting Level 9 and 10 gymnasts with the college recruitment process. 
 
Prior to that, she was the Team and Optionals Head Coach at Majesty Elite Gymnastics, where she created policies, culture, and standards of success for coaches and gymnasts and oversaw operations of the competitive team. 
 
From 2020-2024, Wilson held multiple leadership roles at Olympiad Gymnastics, including Women's Development Program Coach, Elite Development Coach, College Recruitment Coordinator, Talent Opportunity Program (TOPs) Director, and Pre-Team Supervisor. In that role she coached WDP Levels 1-10, coached gymnasts in the Elite Development Program, created and ran the TOPs program, and created and supervised the Pre-Team Program. 
 
Her earlier experience includes roles as Assistant Junior Olympics Head Coach and Intensive Co-Director at Philly InMovement, WDP Coach for Levels 3-7 at Philadelphia Gymnastics Center, and Compulsory/TOPs/Xcel/Recreational Coach at Will-Moor School of Gymnastics. 
 
Wilson holds a USAG Professional Membership and is a USAG Certified Recreational and Developmental Instructor.

A native of Flint, Michigan, Wilson attended Carman-Ainsworth High School, Nova Southeastern University, Atlantic Cape Community College, and Rowan College.
