SCSU Volleyball Falls To St. Michael's, 3-1

COLCHESTER, VT. – Southern Connecticut State University volleyball lost to St. Michael's, 3-1 (25-20, 10-25, 11-25, 14-25) in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup in Colchester, Vt. With the loss, Southern dropped to 3-15 overall and 1-2 in the NE10 while the Purple Knights improved to 5-12 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Victoria Pascual led the Owls with seven kills while adding a service ace. Raegen Emery had six kills, an ace and three blocks (1 solo, 2 assisted), as well as four digs. Madi Roar led the Owls with 13 assists and also had two service aces while Jalie Miller led the Owls with 11 dags and added two aces.

Southern won the first set, 25-20, behind a strong rally that featured Pascual four kills and two aces in an 8-2 run that gave Southern a 20-13 lead. Isabel Alvaraz recorded a kill and Jalie Miller had an ace to seal the first set.

The second set saw an early 11-1 run by St. Michael's give them a cushion to take the game, 25-10. The third set saw Southern play back-and-forth to a 10-9 game with St. Michael's leading before the Purple Knights took a 2-1 match lead with a 15-2 run. The final set saw St. Michael's use another run to seal the match.  

Southern is back in action at home when it hosts Bentley on Friday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. at Pelz Gymnasium.
