GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Southern Connecticut Women's Soccer lost in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals against #1 Adelphi 3-4 in Golden Goal overtime.
The Owls fell behind early, with the Panthers jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first half behind goals from Kayleigh Goodrich and Dylann Trahey.
Despite the deficit, Southern came flying out of the gates to start the second half. Nicky Deslauriers scored first in the 46th minute, putting home a nice pass from Sydney Myers. It marked Deslauriers' fourth score of the season, and Myers picked up her sixth assist.
Alexis Rosado struck next in the 53rd minute, netting her own rebound. The score was her sixth of the year.
Adelphi bounced back to regain the lead in the 74th minute, but the Owls answered again to send the game to overtime. Mimmi Bauréus' scored, heading Emma Noheimer's corner into the back of the net. It was Bauréus' second score of the year, and Noheimer's third assist.
In overtime, it was the Panthers who netted the golden goal, with Goodrich scoring off a corner in the 98th minute.
Kaelen Fabry started in net for the Owls, recording one save before leaving due to injury. Sophomore Reagan VonLoeser stepped up in relief, recording six saves in her first action of her career.
The Owls finish the year at 6-6-6, scoring 11 goals over their final three games. Myers led the team in goals (9), assists (7), and points (25) in her first year on the squad. Rosado was close behind with six scores, four assists, and 16 points.
The Owls will return for the 2025 season.
