SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut men's soccer takes home a win in the final game of the regular season beating conference opponent American International, 2-1. The Owls were down 1-0 in the first half and came back with two big goals in the second. Samuel Nagy had a goal and an assist for the Owls, while Edward Mensah scored his first goal of the season.
The first half started off pretty quiet until the Yellow Jackets scored in the 39th minute of the game.
Southern Connecticut was able to equalize off of a corner 13 minutes into the second half. Nagy took the corner and kicked a great ball to the middle of the box where Mensah was able to split two defenders to head one in for a goal.
In the 76th minute of the game, Southern Connecticut was awarded a free kick after a Yellow Jackets handball. Nagy took the free kick and netted one in the bottom left corner to give the Owls the win.
Southern Connecticut finishes the season with an overall record of 6-7-3 and 4-4-1 in the conference. They now await seeding for the Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Championship which is due to start Saturday, Nov. 9 after the regular season for all of the teams wraps up on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
