SCSU Volleyball Clipped By AIC, 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University volleyball lost to American International, 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 12-25) in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Pelz Gymnasium. With the loss, Southern dropped to 4-19 overall and 2-6 in the NE10 while AIC improved to 14-6 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Raegen Emery led the Owls with nine kills and 11 digs as well as one ace while Sydney Bennett had seven kills for Southern. Isabel Alvarez finished with five kills and seven digs as well as block while Katie Bardak also had five kills and a block. Lily Miller led the Owls with 13 assists.

The first set saw Southern take an early 7-6 lead before AIC used an 11-6 run to take a 17-12 lead, its largest of that frame. Southern outscored AIC down the stretch, 10-8, but the Yellowjackets lead was too much to overcome as they took a 25-21 win in the first set.

The second set went back-and-forth until it was tied at 9-9 before AIC outscored the Owls, 17-6 to close out the second frame. The third set was more of the same as AIC committed just one attack error before closing out the deciding set.

Southern is back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 12 when it travels to Garden City, N.Y. to take on Adelphi before closing the season at Saint Anselm on Friday, Nov. 15 in Manchester, N.H.
