SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Tops Adelphi, 161-115

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming & diving defeated Adelphi, 161-115, in a dual meet at Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium.

200 Yard Medley Relay
Southern's "A" team of Hailey Nyquist, Emma St. Hilaire, Ella Marzec and Arianna Arturi won the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:51.73 for 11 points while the "B" team of Sara Roney, Lindsay McCawley, Julia Pitchell and Jasmine Uricchio finished third at 1:56.16 for two points.

1000 Yard Freestyle
Southern took the top three spots in the 1000 Free, led by Paola Castillo in first place at 11:14.13 followed by Sierra DuCharme at 11:24.71 for second place and Natalie Weier in third place at 11:35.13. The trio garnered 16 points for the Owls.

200 Yard Freestyle
Southern continued to dominate early as the Owls grabbed the top four spots in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Aralyn Vogel was first at 2:01.46 followed by Jasmine Uricchio in second at 2:04.29. Justice Glasgow was third at 2:04.65 while Kalie Dominguez finished fourth at 2:09.32. Vogel, Uricchio and Glasgow picked up another 15 points for Southern.

100 Yard Backstroke
Abigail Lyons was second in the 100 Back with a time of 1:01.97 for four points followed by Julia Pitchell in third at 1:02.08 (3 pts.). Zoe McNeill picked up another point for the Owls with a fifth-place finish at 1:03.84.

100 Yard Breaststroke
Allyson Quitos finished second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke event with a time of 1:11.08 followed close behind by Emma St. Hilaire at 1:11.17.

200 Yard Butterfly
Lindsay McCawley was second in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:20.38 (4 pts.) while Molly Kennedy finished in third at 2:21.67 (3 pts.) and Sierra DuCharme was fourth at 2:24.65. (2 pts.).

50 Yard Freestyle
Arianna Arturi paced the Owls in the 50 Free with a first-place finish at 25.16 (9 pts.) while Reina Loiacano was third at 26.07 (3 pts.) followed by Hailey Nyquist in fourth at 26.41.

100 Yard Freestyle
Southern captured the top three spots in an event for the second time in the meet when Molly Kennedy, Ella Marzec and Justice Glasgow won the 100 Free event. Kennedy was first at 54.96 followed by Marzec at 55.04 and Glasgow at 56.29 for third place.

200 Yard Backstroke
Abby Lyons led the Owls with a second-place finish in the 200 Back with a time of 2:12.93 for four points. Zoe McNeill was third at 2:17.50 (3 pts.) while Abbey Piech was fourth at 2:21.38 (2 pts.)

200 Yard Breaststroke
Southern took three of the top four spots in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Lindsay McCawley was second with a time of 2:34.46 (4 pts.) followed by Paola Castillo in third at 2:38.39 (3 pts.). Arianna Arturi captured the fourth spot at 2:38.98 (2 pts.).

500 Yard Freestyle
Jasmine Uricchio won the 500 Free event as the Owls took the top four spots. Uricchio touched at 5:23.16 (9 pts) followed by Brooke Keeney at 5:25.55. Molly Kennedy was third at 5:34.53 while Sierra DuCharme was fourth at 5:39.18.

100 Yard Butterfly
Julia Pitchell won the 100 Fly event with a time of 1:00.53 followed by Ella Marzec in second place at 1:00.62 and Aralyn Vogel in fourth at 1:02.47.

200 Yard Individual Medley
Lindsay McCawley won her second event of the day with a win in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:19.71. Sara Roney was second at 2:22.38.

400 Yard Freestyle Relay
Southern's "A" team – swimming as an exhibition after clinching the meet – consisting of Abbey Piech, Natalie Weier, Jordan Herman and Abby Lyons posted a time of 4:10.61.

Southern returns to action on Friday, Nov. 15 when it hosts Worcester Polytechnic Institute at 6 p.m. at Hutchinson Natatorium.
