DURHAM, N.H. – Southern Connecticut gymnastics posted a score of 193.850 and finished in second place in a Quad Meet against the University of New Hampshire, Fisk University and Rhode Island College. New Hampshire finished in first place with a score of 195.200, Fisk finished in third place with a score of 190.575 and Rhode Island came in fourth place with a score of 189.150. In addition, the Owls posted a season-high score of 48.275 on the beam.
On the uneven bars, freshman
Gigi Mastellone recorded the highest score of the day for Southern and had a team-best score of 9.850, as she came in third place. On the balance beam, junior
Alexa Melanson posted a team-best score of 9.750 and finished tied for third place. In the floor exercise, junior
Libby Allen recorded a team-best score of 9.825 and finished in a tie for fifth place. On the vault, freshman
Kylie Sitty posted a team-best score of 9.775 and finished tied for fourth place. The highest scoring event of the day for the Owls, was the uneven bars, where they had a total score of 48.575.
UNEVEN/PARALLEL BARS
Gigi Mastellone recorded a team-best score of 9.850 and came in third place, freshman
Sophia Ruecker posted a score of 9.725 and finished in ninth place, freshman
Gabriela Dinisoe recorded a career-high score of 9.700 and came in a tie for 10
th place, senior
Audrey Arnold had a score of 9.700 and finished in a tie for 10
th place.
Kylie Sitty posted a score of 9.600 and came in 12
th place. The Owls had a total score of 48.575 on the uneven/parallel bars, which was their highest scoring event of the day.
BALANCE BEAM
Alexa Melanson posted a team-best score of 9.750 and finished tied for third place,
Libby Allen recorded a score of 9.725 and came in a tie for sixth place,
Angel Lee posted a score of 9.675 and finished tied for eighth place,
Angelina Stanfa recorded a score of 9.575 and came in 14
th place,
Gabriela Dinisoe had a score of 9.550 and finished in 15
th place. The Owls had a total score of 48.275, which is a season-high on the balance beam.
FLOOR EXERCISE
Libby Allen recorded a team-best score of 9.825 and finished in a tie for fifth place,
Sophia Ruecker posted a career-high score of 9.725 and finished tied for ninth place, sophomore
Ava Kelly and
Alexa Melanson recorded a score of 9.700, as they came in a tie for 12
th place and
Hanna Zebdi had a score of 9.575 and finished in 18
th place. The Owls had a total score of 48.525 in the floor exercise.
VAULT
Kylie Sitty posted a team-best score of 9.775 and finished in a tie for fourth place, which matched her career-high, that was set last week.
Sophia Ruecker recorded a score of 9.700 and came in a tie for ninth place,
Ava Kelly and junior
Brianna Dorr both had a score of 9.675, as they finished in 11
th place. Junior
Lexi Bracher posted a score of 9.650 and finished in 15
th place, and
Libby Allen recorded a score of 9.625 and came in 17
th place. The Owls had a total score of 48.475 on the vault.
The Owls return to action on Sunday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m. in New Haven, Connecticut in a Quad Meet at Yale University, with Maryland and University of New Hampshire.
