Southern Connecticut gymnastics standout
Gigi Mastellone was named to the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) All-American First Team on the Uneven/Parallel Bars.
This honor comes to Mastellone after she finished tied for third place on the Uneven Bars with a score of 9.850 at the 2024 Gymnastics East Championships. In addition, she earned All-GEC First Team Bars Honors, GEC Scholar Athlete Honors and was named GEC Newcomer of the Week twice during the regular season.
Mastellone has been a constant in the Owls' bars lineup. She has had a impressive freshman season for Southern Connecticut, as she recorded the first perfect 10 score on the Bars in SCSU Gymnastics history at the All-American Challenge. Mastellone has a team-best average of 9.688, holds the highest National Qualifying Score (NQS) in the GEC with a 9.855 and is ranked 10th in the North East with her NQS score. She has recorded a score of 9.7-or-higher in 11 out of the 13 meets she has competed in this season on the Bars.
