WINTER PARK, Fla. – Southern Connecticut women's volleyball fell to Trevecca Nazarene and Millersville in their first two matches of the 2024 Rollins College Invitational. In the first match, the Owls fell, 3-0 against Trevecca Nazarene. In the second match, Southern was defeated by Millersville, 3-1. The Trojans improved to an overall record of 2-6, the Marauders improved to an overall record of 7-2 and the Owls dropped to 1-8 overall.

Isabel Alvarez led the team with eight kills as
Sydney Bennett added five kills. Emery also led the team in aces with three, junior
Emily Sartell and freshman
Emma Dedushaj both had a service ace. Bennett and Emery had a team-best of two blocks as sophomore
Sarah Stark posted a block for Southern.

Madi Roar recorded a team-high of 15 assists while senior
Lily Miller added seven assists of her own. Freshman
Jalie Miller had six digs for the Owls, as Emery had six and
Lily Miller had four digs.
SCSU vs. Millersville
Raegen Emery recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a team-best of 13 kills and a team-best of 11 digs.
Sydney Bennett had eight kills and
Isabel Alvarez notched five kills against Millersville. In addition, for the second match in a row, Bennett and Emery had the Owls' most blocks in the match with two.
Sarah Stark had a career-high of four service aces against the Marauders,
Lily Miller and Emery both had three aces of their own. For digs,
Dylan Marney totaled 11 and
Jalie Miller added 10 digs.
Madi Roar recorded 20 assists, marking her fourth match this season where she has accumulated 20+ assists.
Lily Miller had 13 assists and
Jalie Miller added four assists for Southern Connecticut.
To start the match, Southern won the first set, 25-17, over Millersville. In the second set, the Marauders jumped to an early lead as the Owls started a comeback; however, Millersville held on to take the set, 25-21. In the third set, both teams traded the lead throughout the set; yet Millersville edged out Southern, 25-23. In the fourth set, the Marauders ran with their momentum to get the victory with a scoreline of 25-15.
The Owls will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, on the final day of the 2024 Rollins College Invitational in Winter Park, Fla., where they will face Lynn University at 9:00 a.m. then finish with a match against host, Rollins College at 2:00 p.m.
