SCSU Men's Soccer Completes Comeback to Defeat St. Anselm

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Southern Connecticut Men's Soccer scored twice in the final 10 minutes to defeat Saint Anselm 2-1. The Owls improve to 3-3-1 on the season (1-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference).

The Hawks opened up the scoring in the 39th minute when Jackson Dresens squeezed one past Owls Goalie Devin Juan. Juan  and Southern's defense would hold the Hawks scoreless for the rest of the match.

The Owls tied the game in the 81st minute when Senior Jalen Jean took advantage of a Saint Anselm misplay and poked a shot past the Hawks keeper and into the back of the net. The goal marks the first of the season for Jean, and the fifth of his career.

Senior Jose Clemente put Southern ahead in the 83rd minute with a goal of his own. Clemente took a pass from Junior Zico Groenveld and drilled a shot into the right side of the net. Clemente, a transfer from Saint Rose, now has five scores in seven games with the Owls. Groenveld picked up his third assist of the year on the goal.

The Owls return on Saturday, October 5th to take on Saint Michael's in Colchester, Vermont.
