SCSU Men’s Soccer Defeats Mercy, 1-0 for Fourth Straight Win

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y.—Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer defeated Mercy University 1-0 in a non-conference match-up Saturday in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. With the win, The Owls improve to a 4-2-2 overall record, while Mercy fell to 2-4-3.
 
After a quiet first half, the Owls offense woke up late in the 78th minute when Sam Sandler slashed through the middle of the field. Sandler then sent a cross into the middle of the box to Jeremy Martin who put a shot past the sliding goalkeeper on the left side for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Martin's second as an Owl and the assist was Sandler's first of his career.
 
Owls goalkeeper Diego Flores added six saves. Flores pitched his fourth straight shut-out helping the Owls to a 1-0 win. 

The Owls are back in action Tuesday Oct. 7 when they host American International College at 7pm in their return to Northeast 10 conference play.
