Osaretin Osagie, Mateo Viviano Bring Home NE10 Weekly Awards

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Men's Indoor Track & Field standouts Osaretin Osagie and Mateo Viviano were named the Northeast-10 Conference Track Athlete of the Week and Rookie of the Week for Week 7 of the 2024-25 season.

Osaretin Osagie continued his great season last weekend at Boston College's Showdown at the Heights. He finished second in both the 60m Hurdles and the 4x400 Relay. His time of 8.29 in the 60m Hurdles would rank fifth in the NE10, and the 4x400 time of 3:15.70 ranks second, just short of the 3:15.06 mark the Owls set the previous weekend, which ranks first in the NE10 and 24th nationally.

Mateo Viviano has been the top pole vaulter in the NE10 this season, and he continued his rookie campaign with a second-place finish at the Showdown at the Heights. He vaulted 4.40m (14-05.25), which marks the fifth time he has matched or surpassed 4.40m. Only one other athlete in the NE10 has reached 4.20m. He holds the best jump in the conference at 4.55m, with teammate Dylan Torok ranking second at 4.20m.

The Owls compete again in two meets on Saturday, February 15th, traveling back to Boston for BU's Valentine Invitational and sticking in New Haven for Yale's Geigengack Invitational.
