Colton Sallum Named NE10 Indoor Track Rookie of the Year

Southern Connecticut men's indoor track & field standout Colton Sallum was named the Northeast 10 Conference Indoor Track Rookie of the Year for the 2026 season, as announced by the conference on Friday, March 20th. Head Coach John Wallin was also named the NE10 Coach of the Year. 

Sallum picks up his second Rookie of the Year honors after being named NE10 Cross Country Rookie of the Year. He dominated the distance events at the NE10 Championships, taking home gold in the 3000m and 5000m. His contribution to the Owls' point total earned him Most Valuable Athlete honors. He was one of only three male athletes to win gold in multiple events at the championships. This year, he has been name Rookie of the Year twice and has been named NE10 Rookie of the Week four times. 

John Wallin and the Owls' coaching staff picked up their 12th Coach of the Year award after leading the men's team to their ninth consecutive and 20th overall NE10 Indoor Title. It is his third straight time winning the award. Southern has won the award 17 out of the 25 years they have awarded it.
