BOSTON, Mass. – Southern Connecticut Men's Indoor Track & Field won their ninth straight Northeast 10 Conference Championship at the TRACK at New Balance. It is their 20
th conference championship overall. The team scored 241 points, 137 points ahead of second place. The Owls totaled 21 medals, a combination of individual and relay medals secured throughout both days of competition. It was the largest margin of victory recorded in conference history for both the SCSU Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams.
Colton Sallum earned the Most Vaulable Athlete Award on the Men's Side.
It is the third straight season that both the men and women have won both the men's and women's indoor NE10 Championships. In addition, it is the second time in NE10 history that a school has won both the men's and women's indoor championships, and the men's and women's cross-country championships in the same year.
TRACK
60 Meter Hurdles
Osaretin Osagie won the Gold Medal in the 60 Meter Hurdles in a time of 8.05, one of the best times in Division II, this season.
1 Mile Run
It was an Owls' sweep on the podium as
Jonathan Volpe won the Gold Medal in a time of 4:09.82,
Nate Huebner captured the Silver Medal in a time of 4:15.71 and
Frankie Porrini captured the Bronze Medal in a time of 4:16.11.
Will Lamburn came in 10
th in a time of 4:27.92.
400 Dash
Sam Sandler secured the Silver Medal in a time of 47.78, with one of the best times in Division II this season.
Quinn Favorite got the Bronze Medal in a time of 48.83.
Osaretin Osagie came in sixth in a time of 48.98 and
Max Musial came in seventh in a time of 49.29.
3000 Run
Colton Sallum captured the Gold Medal in a time of 8:38.73 while
John Glidden secured the Bronze Medal in a time of 8:39.63.
Ryan Gagne finished in eighth place in a time of 8:59.15 and
Dom Tartarelli came in 17
th place in a time of 9:12.89.
4x800 Relay
The relay team of
Jack Mulcunry,
Gavin Kane,
Frankie Porrini and
Jonathan Volpe secured the Gold Medal in a time of 7:46.84.
4x400 Relay
The relay team of
Sam Sandler,
Max Musial,
Marquis Ward and
Quinn Favorite secured the Gold Medal in a time of 3:18.26.
200 Dash
Taffie Todd came in fourth in a time of 21.76 and Jalil Peña came in fifth place in a time of 21.86.
FIELD
Shot Put
Chris Amy won the Gold Medal in the Shot Put with a mark of 16.30 meters (53' 5 ¾").
Aidan Chittenden won the Silver Medal with a mark of 15.29 meters (50' 2").
Jayden Brown came in fifth place with a mark of 14.61 meters,
Leo Jolly came in sixth with a mark of 14.54 meters,
Trevor Dixon came in 10
th place with a mark of 13.19 meters and
Tim Cavrell came in 11
th place with a mark of 12.99 meters.
High Jump
Lawrence Hicks captured the Gold Medal with a mark of 2.06 meters (6'9"), one of the best marks in Division II this season.
Joseph French-Graham and
Joal Barros both came in sixth place with a mark of 1.86 meters.
Weston Dzwonchyk came in 11
th place with a mark of 1.81 meters.
Triple Jump
Ty Phelan came in fourth place with a mark of 12.81 meters (42' 0 ½").
HEPTATHLON
Aidan Lanciault won the Gold medal with a total of 4,712 points and
Elliot Childs secured the Bronze Medal with a total of 4,532 points.
60 Hurdles
Childs came in second with a time of 8.68, while Lanciault came in fourth in a time of 9.03.
Pole Vault
Lanciault came in first with a mark of 4.05 meters (13' 3 ½") while Childs came in third with a mark of 3.65 meters (11' 11 ¾").
1000 Meter Run
Lanciault came in second with a time of 3:02.74, while Childs came in sixth in a time of 3:09.78.
