PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Southern Connecticut gymnastics team finished eighth at the Gymnastics East Conference Championships with a total score of 191.175. Penn won the championship with a score of 195.700. Yale came in second (194.125) and Bridgeport followed for third (193.150) then William & Mary (192.975), Cornell (192.925), Brown (192.875), and West Chester (192.275).
Libby Allen medaled on the floor coming in fourth place and assistant coach Isabella Antonangeli was named the GEC Assistant Coach of the Year. The team's highest event score came on the floor with a 48.800 as every scoring member was a 9.700 or above.
UNEVEN BARS
Hannah Fitzgerald scored the highest score for the Owls on the bars with a 9.500 which is also her season and career best. This score had her tied for 10th in Session I. Gabriela Dinisoe and Shreya Munshi scored a 9.475.
BALANCE BEAM
On the beam, Dinisoe scored a 9.575 and Angelina Stanfa scored a 9.525.
FLOOR EXERCISE
The Owls excelled on the floor with a total score of 48.800. Allen had the highest score anchoring with a 9.825 for a season best, a third-place tie in Session I, and tie for fourth place overall. Erica Beyer scored a 9.775 to tie for sixth in Session I. Abby Royer and Hanna Zebdi scored a 9.750 to tie for eighth in Session I and Ava Kelly scored a 9.700.
VAULT
Brianna Dorr and Kylie Sitty were the highest scorers for Southern Connecticut on the vault with a 9.725. Both gymnasts tied for fifth place in Session I. Kelly scored a 9.675 to tie for eighth in Session I.
The Owls will compete at the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championships from April 11-13, 2025 at Centenary College in Louisiana.
