NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's basketball will take on Bentley University in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals on Thursday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. in Waltham, Massachusetts. The Owls faced Bentley in the NE10 Championship Tournament last season, in the Championship game, where the Falcons came out on top.

Southern Connecticut advanced to the Semifinals for the second-straight season, after defeating the fifth-seed, Pace University, 68-61 in the Quarterfinals in the Moore Field House on Sunday, March 2.
Delaney Haines led the Owls with 20 points, as she shot 8-for-19 from the floor and was 2-for-3 from the free-throw line.
Hope Fox scored 14 points, was 2-for-4 from the floor, 10-for-11 from the free-throw line, grabbed a team-best of six boards, had a team-best of three assists, a team-best of two blocks and a team-best of four steals.
Jillian Martin and
Katie Williamson both totaled 10 points each, as Williamson was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, grabbed five rebounds, had three assists and two blocks. Martin was 3-for-5 from the floor, had three rebounds and an assist.
Ally Sentance recorded eight points, grabbed five boards, dished three assists and a steal.
Rheyna Steinauer added four points while
Lyzi Litwinko had two points, an assist, a block and a steal against the Setters.
Bentley, the number one seed and the Regular Season Champions, defeated no. 9, Southern New Hampshire, 64-50 in the Quarterfinals. The Falcons are ranked third in all of Division II and have been on a 24-game winning streak. Bentley's last loss came on Nov. 20, 2024, when Adelphi defeated the Falcons, 59-55 in Garden City, New York.
Season Notes against Bentley:
- Bentley has defeated Southern twice this season, 78-59 on Dec. 7 in the Moore Field House and 75-54 on Jan. 25 in Waltham, Massachusetts.
- In their first meeting this season on Dec. 7, both teams had only one loss and it was the first rematch after the 2024 NE10 Women's Basketball Championship game.
- Delaney Haines led the team with 17 points, had a team-best of two steals and grabbed two rebounds.
- Katie Williamson had 12 points, as she had three rebounds, two blocks and was 2-for-3 from the free-throw line.
- Rheyna Steinauer scored 11 points as she grabbed a team-best of eight boards, had a team-best of four assists and a block.
- On Jan. 25, Jillian Martin and Delaney Haines led the Owls with 10 points each as Martin totaled two steals, two assists and three boards.
- Haines was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, grabbed two boards and had an assist.
- Katie Williamson added eight points, grabbed two rebounds and had a steal against the Falcons.
2024 Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament
- In the 2024 NE10 Championship Tournament, Southern Connecticut went on an impressive run all the way to the Championship game, for the first time since 2012.
- The Owls defeated Elm-City rival, New Haven, in the NE10 Championship First Round, 60-44, then they went on to upset No. 3, Saint Rose on the road in a 58-53 NE10 Quarterfinal victory. In the NE10 Semifinals, Southern pulled off another upset victory against No. 2, Assumption, 60-47 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
- Southern Connecticut advanced to the Northeast-10 Championship Game in a matchup against No. 1 Bentley University, as the Owls fell to Bentley, 64-49 in their final game of the season.
The Owls will play no. 1, Bentley University, in the NE10 Championship Tournament Semifinals on Thursday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. in Waltham, Massachusetts. Tickets for the game will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors and free for NE10 students with an ID.
