Caiola Records Top Time in DII, Breaks Outdoor Record, and Moran Breaks Record as SCSU Women's T&F Competes at UConn and Yale

STORRS, Conn. / NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Women's Outdoor Track & Field Standouts Hannah Caiola and Kimberly Moran both recorded top times as the Owls competed at the UConn Northeast Challenge and Yale's Mark Young Invitational. Caiola ran the top 400m time in NCAA Division II and broke the SCSU Outdoor Record, and Kimberly Moran broke the program record in the 3000m Steeplechase for a second time. 

UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE

Hannah Caiola ran the #1 400m Dash in Division II, placing first with a time of 52.36. That is a new personal best for Caiola, and is the second time this year that she has held the top time in the nation for the 400m. Her time broke the SCSU Outdoor record of 52.51 set by Shatajah Wattely in 2017. Avery Winters placed sixth in the same event, also setting a PR with a time of 55.83. Winters' time is 2nd in the Northeast-10 Conference 

Kimberly Moran won the 3000m Steeplechase, setting a new PR with a time of 10:41.45. That breaks the SCSU Program Record of 10:41.89, which was just set by Moran last weekend at the Friar Invitational. Her time ranks 23rd in all of Division II. 

Erin Sola placed 11th in the 1500m with a time of 4:53.73, which ranks fourth in the NE10. 

In the 100m Hurdles, Patrice Mansfield placed third with a time of 14.25. She also placed 14th in the 200m Dash with a time of 25.54, which ranks first in the conference. 

Kisha Francois placed sixth in the 100m Dash with a time of 12.16, which ranks first in the conference. 

Julia Mansfield ran a time of 2:18.13 in the 800m, good for 11th place and second-best in the NE10. Abigail Bajorek placed 13th at 2:20.66, a new personal best and the fourth best in the conference. 

PJ Dauphinais placed second in the 5000m with a time of 18.45. Courtney Henchcliffe was not far behind in third at 18:53.99. 

The Owls' 4x100m Relay team of Patrice Mansfield, Francois, Winters, and Caiola placed second with a season-best time of 46.43. 

The 4x400m Relay team of Winters, Caiola, Francois, and Julia Mansfield won the event with a time of 3:48.87. 

YALE MARK YOUNG INVITATIONAL

FIELD
Darla Jagrosse won the Shot Put with a throw of 12.97m (42-6.75), which is the third-best throw in the NE10. Belle Smith placed third, throwing 12.45m (40-10.25), and Kayla Johnson finished fourth with a mark of 11.84m (38-10.25), which is the fourth best in the NE10. 

Jagrosse also led the Owls in the Discus Throw, throwing 40.45m (132-8). That throw is the third-best in the conference. Smith placed fourth with a throw of 39.40m (129-3). Sydney Dolbier threw 34.03m (111-7), which was good for eighth place, and Valerie Torres landed in ninth at 33.36m (109-5). 

In the Hammer Throw, Smith placed second, throwing 47.82m (156-11). Celine Bozukluian placed fifth at 44.37m (145-7), and Dolbier placed sixth at 41.42m (135-11). Torres rounded out the pack in eighth, throwing 35.72m (117-2). 

Hailey DeNucci finished second in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 32.88m (107-10). 

Delaney Speed tied for first in the Long Jump, reaching 5.65m (18-6.5). That is a personal best mark for Speed and ranks fourth in the conference. Deja Fitzpatrick-Bell placed 10th with a mark of 5.13m (16-10). Uliana Pokutnia finished in 15th with a jump of 4.98m (16-4.5). 

Pokutnia placed third, jumping 11.44m (36-6.5). Fitzpatrick-Bell finished sixth at 10.59m (34-9), and Speed came in seventh at 10.35m (33-11.5). 

Maddie Hathorn finished seventh in the Pole Vault, clearing 3.25m (10-8).

TRACK
Brianna Cole placed seventh in the 400m Dash with a time of 1:01.03. Lindsay Drozd was right behind in eighth at 1:01.24. 

Dardielle Exantus came in 11th in the 100m Dash, running a time of 12.41, which is the fourth best in the NE10 this season. Joelle Budz placed 14th at 12.82. 

Exantus also placed 11th in the 200m Dash with a time of 25.39, which ranks second in the conference. Budz placed 16th at 26.43, and Cole finished in 18th at 26.69. Drozd came in 21st with a time of 26.95. 

The Owls return home for the Jack Maloney/Jim Barber Invitational next weekend to celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, April 26th.
