SCSU Women's Outdoor Track & Field Sweeps NE10 Postseason Awards

Southern Connecticut women's outdoor track & field swept the Northeast 10 Conference Postseason Awards, as announced by the conference on Thursday, May 21st. Courtney Henchcliffe was named Track Athlete of the Year, Darla Jagrosse was named Field Athlete of the Year, Djamilla Toukour was named Track Rookie of the Year, and Lily Quill was named Field Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Melissa Stoll Funaro and her staff received the Coach of the Year award.

Courtney Henchcliffe completes the three-season sweep, becoming the first athlete in program history to receive NE10 Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in the same season. She clinched the final award with a dominant outdoor season, winning the 5000m and placing second in the 1500m at the 2026 NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She followed up that performance by winning the 5000m at the 2026 New England Championships, helping the Owls to a second-place finish. She also broke the outdoor program record in the 5000m with a time of 17:04.82. She was a four-time Athlete of the Week recipient this season, and is the third Owl to ever be named Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, joining Hannah Caiola (2025) and Briana Burt (2019).

Darla Jagrosse broke out in her senior season, finishing the year with Field Athlete of the Year honors. She was named the NE10's Most Outstanding Field Performer at the 2026 Outdoor Championships after winning the Discus Throw and placing second in the Shot Put. She also placed second in the Shot Put and fourth in the Discus Throw at the 2026 New England Championships, recording personal bests in both events. She is only the second Owl in program history to be named NE10 Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, joining Destiney Coward, who won three straight from 2016 to 2018.

After earning All-American honors during the indoor season, Djamilla Toukour completed an excellent outdoor season, earning Track Rookie of the Year honors. She placed second in the 400m, fifth in the 200m, and third in the 4x400 at the NE10 Outdoor Championships, and was a part of the Owls' winning 4x400m relay at the New England Championships. She was a two-time NE10 Rookie of the Week recipient, and is the fourth Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year winner in program history, joining Anna-Sashia Jones (2023), Ella Maclean (2022), and Begotty Laroche (2018).

Lily Quill excelled in the Pole Vault during her debut collegiate season, earning Field Rookie of the Year honors after a great outdoor season. She won the Pole Vault at the 2026 NE10 Championships, then placed eighth at the New England Championships. Quill joins Destiney Coward (2015) as the only Field Rookie of the Year award winners in program history.

Head Coach Melissa Stoll Funaro and her staff take home Coach of the Year honors, sweeping the award for all three seasons for the first time in program history. It is the fourth time Stoll Funaro has won the award during the outdoor season (2014, 2015, 2024), which is the most of any coach in program history.
