Steve Phillips Named NE10 Pitcher of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Baseball LHP Steve Phillips was named the Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the penultimate week of the regular season, as announced by the conference on April 28th. 

Steve Phillips hit multiple career milestones this week, helping the Owls to three wins each of his three appearances on the mound. He was scoreless across four innings pitched, collecting three strikeouts and only walking one batter. He pitched two clean innings in relief against Assumption in his final appearance of the week, striking out two batters and earning the win. He picked up his 21st career win, and is now tied with Herny Lee '04, Scott Bannon '96, Rit Lacomis '99 and Justin Cox '09 for the fifth-most wins in program history. He also recorded his 218th career strikeout to move into fourth place in SCSU history.

Phillips and the Owls will look to close out the regular season this weekend, traveling to Pleasantville, N.Y. for a three game set against Pace.
