SCSU Baseball Lands Six on All-Conference Teams

Southern Connecticut baseball landed six players on the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference All-Conference teams. Brennan Staubley was named to the All-NE10 First Team, Jace Alvino and Jake Chacho were named to the All-NE10 Third Team, Chacho and Devin Pelletier were named to the All-NE10 Defensive team, and Nick Karras and Matt Scalia were named to the All-Rookie Team.

Brennan Staubley lands on the First Team after a dominant 2026 campaign. He finished the season with a .429 batting average, going 69-for-161 with nine doubles and 11 home runs. He ranked second in the NE10 in batting average, third in OPS at 1.163, seventh in hits, eighth in home runs, and fifth in slugging at .694. His best series of the year came against his former school Franklin Pierce. He went 8-for-11 (.727) in the second doubleheader with two home runs, two doubles, eight RBI, and three runs scored. His go-ahead, three-run homer in the top of the 9th inning in game two clinched the sweep. This is Staubley's second All-Conference recognition after being named to the Third Team last season.

Jake Chacho was a consistent force in the Owls lineup, hitting .301 (47-for-156) with four doubles, two triples, and eight home runs. He ranked eighth in the conference in home runs, and was the only player to appear in every game this season for the Owls. He was also named to the NE10 All-Defensive team after recording and impressive .985 fielding percentage in center field. He recorded 129 putouts, and tallied two outfield assists. This is Chacho's second All-Conference recognition after being named All-Rookie in 2024.

Jace Alvino followed up his All-Rookie freshman season with an All-Conference Third Team sophomore year. He started seven games for the Owls, totaling 41 innings pitched to the tune of a 4.61 ERA. He ranked first among Owls' starters in ERA and second on the team in innings pitched, and only allowed 12 walks this season, which is tied for the least among Owls who pitched more than eight innings.

Devin Pelletier was named to the All-Defensive team after a lockdown season at first base. He recorded an incredible .993 fielding percentage, recording only two errors while ranking fourth in the conference in chances (305) and putouts (288). This is the third consecutive season the Owls' primary first baseman has been named All-Defensive after Jack Drewry received the honor in 2025 and 2024.

Matt Scalia receives All-Rookie recognition after a phenomenal freshman season where he appeared in all but one game. As the Owls' primary right fielder, he batted .302 (42-for-129) with eight doubles. He ranked second on the team in both batting average and hits, and was also incredibly reliable in the field, recording a .979 fielding percentage on 97 chances.

Nick Karras also landed on the All-Rookie team after a strong end to the season. Karras, who began seeing regular playing time about halfway through the season, finished the year batting .329 (28-for-85) in 26 games played. He had four extra base hits, including two homers, and had an incredible 5-RBI game against American International, which was the second-most in a NE10 game this season.
