MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut men's soccer senior
Alex da Cunha was named a 2024-25 Northeast-10 Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Nominee, as announced by the NE10 on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Eligibility requirements for nomination are that a student-athlete must be in their final year of athletic eligibility, graduating with a degree in May (unless in a master's program), must be enrolled in a full-time course load and must have a minimum final cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. A committee made up of faculty members and athletic administrators conducts voting for the awards.
Winners are set to be announced at the NE10 Banquet at Fratello's Events in the Millyard (Manchester, N.H.) on the night of Tuesday, June 3.
In the classroom, Alex da Cunha holds a 3.85 GPA while pursuing a Master's in Business Administration. Additionally, throughout his career, he has been named to the NE10 Academic All-Conference team three times and is a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team recipient. On the field, he is a team captain for the Owls who has been named to NE10 All-Conference teams five times, which included two times on the All-NE10 First Team. Additionally, he has been named to the 2024 DII CCA All-East Region Second Team and the 2022 United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team.
