Tish Blackwood was named the Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for Week Nine, as announced by the NE10 on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026. This is the second NE10 Rookie of the Week recognition for Blackwood, after being named NE10 Rookie of the Week for the first time on Dec. 22, 2025.
Tish Blackwood recorded two double doubles in a 2-0 week for the Owls. In a 54-44 victory over Assumption, Blackwood had 10 points and a team-best of 10 boards. In a 70-39 victory over American International, she recorded 18 points, as she was 7-for-11 from the floor and had a team-best of five assists. In addition, she was dominant in the paint as she grabbed 22 boards and is tied with Jackie Beathea for the third-most rebounds in a single game in program history. Her 22 rebounds are the most rebounds recorded in a single game in the NE10 this season. Blackwood is ranked fourth in the NE10 in rebounding with an average of 7.9 boards per game this season.
The Owls will be back in action on Monday, Jan. 19 at 1:30 pm in an NE10 matchup against Saint Anselm in Manchester, New Hampshire. Southern will return home to the Moore Field House on Wednesday, Jan. 21 in an NE10 matchup at 5:30 pm against Adelphi.
