Volpe, Postell Named NE10 Athlete and Rookie of the Week

Southern Connecticut men's indoor track & field took home two Northeast 10 Conference weekly awards for Week 5 of hte 2025-26 season. Jonathan Volpe was named NE10 Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, and William Postell was named Rookie of the Week for the first time. 

At Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic, Jonathan Volpe finished seventh in the 1000m, breaking the program record with a time of 2:24.53. The record was previously set by Josh Perry in 2012. His time also ranks as the third-fastest 1000m in Division II history. Volpe now holds program records in the 1000m, 1500m (outdoor), Mile (indoor and outdoor), and was a part of the Owls' record Distance Medley Relay team. 

William Postell took home his first Rookie of the Week honor after placing first in the Triple Jump at the Harvard Invitational with a personal-best mark of 14.04m. That distance ranks third in the NE10 this season and ranks among the top 100 jumps in all of Division II. Postell also holds the eighth-best Long Jump in the conference this season. 

The Owls will compete this weekend at UMass Lowell's Riverhawk Invitational at The Track at New Balance.
