SCSU Gymnastics Turns In Solid Performance at Long Island University

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut gymnastics finished with a score of 193.125 against Long Island (193.875) while four gymnasts reached season highs.

Libby Allen and Jordan Villani both posted their best Floor Exercise scores of the season while Lola Sepulveda posted a season-best on the Bars. Maria Chronopoulos posted a season-best score on the Balance Beam as she won the competition.



Bars
Lola Sepulveda posted a season-best score of 9.700 to lead the Owls on the Bars and finish fifth overall. Jordan Villani was close behind at 9.600 followed by Gabriela Dinisoe at 9.525. Hannah Fitzgerald (9.425) and Meagan Skinner (9.350) rounded out the scoring for the Owls.

Vault
Villani led Southern on the Vault with a 9.700 for fourth place followed by Sepulveda in fifth at 9.675. Autumn Everett and Hannah Fitzgerald both posted a 9.625 followed by Libby Allen at 9.575.

Floor Exercise
Abby Royer finished second in the Floor Exercise with a 9.850 followed by Libby Allen in third place at 9.800. Villani was fourth at 9.775 while Sepulveda posted a 9.700 for sixth place. Angelina Stanfa had the Owls final scoring routine with a 9.675 while Haley Fitzgerald also had a 9.650.

Balance Beam
Maria Chronopoulos had a season-best 9.825, which was also the highest on the Owls' roster this season, as she won the Balance Beam competition. Dinisoe finished tied for second with a 9.750. Stanfa finished tied for seventh with Hannah Fitzgerald with a 9.675 while Libby Allen posted a 9.625 to round out the scoring.

The Owls will head to Providence, R.I. to compete against Brown, Bridgeport and Long Island on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
