Chris Amy, Colton Sallum Take Home NE10 Postseason Awards

Southern Connecticut men's outdoor track & field standouts Chris Amy and Colton Sallum both received Northeast 10 Postseason Awards, as announced by the conference on Thursday, May 21st. Amy was named NE10 Field Athlete of the Year, and Sallum was named NE10 Track Rookie of the Year. 

Sallum completes the three-season sweep, becoming the first athlete in program history to be named NE10 Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year. He secured his third award with a strong finish to the season, winning the 5000m at the 2026 NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He placed third in the same event at the 2026 New England Championships, helping the Owls to a second-place finish. Sallum finishes his freshman season with three gold medals, NE10 Indoor Most Valuable Performer honors, and four Rookie of the Week recognitions. He is the first Owl to win Outdoor Rookie of the Year since Jeremy Rivera in 2024.

Chris Amy, also a freshman, caps off his debut season with Field Athlete of the Year honors. He dominated during the spring season, winning the Shot Put and placing second in the Discus Throw at the NE10 Championships. He was named the NE10's Most Outstanding Field Performer at the meet. He placed sixth in the Shot Put at the 2026 New England Championships. He received three weekly awards this season, including one Rookie of the Week and two Field Athlete of the Week recognitions. Amy is the fourth-straight Owl to win the award, joining Lawrence Hicks (2025), Jared Eaton (2024), and Duke Quermorllue (2023). He was also the fifth-straight Owl to be named Most Outstanding Field Performer, joining Cameron Belton (2025), Bernardo Mbaya (2024 and 2023), and Turner Kelly (2022).
