SCSU Football's Kelvin McKnight Named NE10 Rookie of the Week

Southern Connecticut State University first-year defensive back Kelvin McKnight was named the Northeast 10 Conference Football Rookie of the Week, as announced by the NE10 on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026.

A week after he recovered a blocked punt and returned it for a touchdown, Kelvin McKnight recorded his first career interception. McKnight picked off a Post pass in the end zone and returned it 64 yards in the final moments of the Owls' 50-7 win against the Eagles. McKnight is the second Owls' freshman to earn a weekly honor after Ethan Hudson was named the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week - for the before-mentioned blocked punt - on Monday, Sept. 21.

Southern, currently 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the NE10, is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Saint Anselm.
