At the Dartmouth Relays, Onakpoma helped the Owls to a second-place finish, out of eight teams, when he took the top spot in the triple jump with a leap 15.19 meters, a 1.37 meter differential from the second-place finisher. Onakpoma's jump was the third-farthest in NCAA Division II this season. Last season, he was an All-American in the triple jump (indoors) and NCAA qualifier while he also earned All-Region honors as a freshman in the year before.
