NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Kathleen Aberger (Plano, Texas) of the gymnastics team and sophomore Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) of the baseball team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Aberger earned First-Team All-America honors at this weekend’s USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship in Seattle. She placed 12th overall on the balance beam with a score of 9.775. Aberger qualified for the finals after posting a score of 9.8 on the beam during the preliminary round.
Lamberti batted .524 (11-for-21) during the Owls’ five games last week. He posted multiple-hit efforts in four games and added seven runs scored, four stolen bases and two RBI. Lamberti’s best game of the week was the final one, against Franklin Pierce, in which he registered four hits and four runs scored.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
