KEY NE-10 MATCH-UPS FOR THE OWLS
The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team finished the week with a 1-0-1 record, improving their overall record to 5-5-5, 4-2-5 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Up next for the Owls, the team will travel to Springfield, Mass. to challenge American International College on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. Later in the week, SCSU will play their final regular season game at home against St. Anselm's College. This game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Oct. 25.

OWLS MAKE PUSH FOR THE PLAYOFFS
The men's soccer team currently resides in the sixth slot in the Northeast-10 Conference standings. After a very convincing 5-0 win at home against Stonehill College last Wednesday, the Owls played St. Michael's College to an unfortunate 0-0 tie in double overtime. The Owls are in search for two big conference wins this week against teams that are ranked in the lower half of the conference standings.

ESPOSITO LEADING THE DEFENSE
Freshman Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) recorded two shutouts in last week's competitions. He combined for seven saves and reduced his goals against average to an outstanding .99 goals against average for the season.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN IN THE BOOKS
For the 30th time in program history, the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2007. The Owls finished the year with a 14-2-5 overall record. In all, the Owls have appeared in a national semifinal 17 times in school history and have won six national championships (1987, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 1999), more than any other Division II program.

2007 NORTHEAST-10 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
Freshman midfielder Brandin McClay's goal with 1:22 to play on Nov. 3 proved to be the game-winner, as the Owls won their first-ever Northeast-10 Tournament with a 2-1 triumph over Merrimack at Jess Dow Field. Previously, SCSU had won the NE-10 regular season title in 2000, 2001 and 2004.

FARRIER TOOK HOME THE HARDWARE
Junior defender Ancil Farrier collected plenty of accolades after an outstanding 2007 season in which he led the Owls in goals and points. Farrier took home First-Team All-America honors, while also receiving All-New England and All-Conference laurels. In addition, he also was named Most Valuable Player of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

FOUR NAMED ALL-NEW ENGLAND
Four members of the men's soccer team - junior defender Ancil Farrier, senior forward Colin Jackson, sophomore defender Sean O'Brien and junior midfielder Djordje Jankovic - were all tabbed for All-New England honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2007.

COLLECTING CONFERENCE HARDWARE
Six Owls were named to Northeast-10 All-Conference teams for their play in 2007. Ancil Farrier and Colin Jackson were both named First-Team All-Conference. Djordje Jankovic and Sean O'Brien were both named Second-Team All-Conference, while junior defender Ricardo Garcia and senior goalkeeper Brendan Lawless were both named Third-Team All-Conference.

QUICK OUT OF THE GATE
The Owls enjoyed success in the first half in 2007. On the season, SCSU outscored its opponents 18-4 in the opening 45 minutes of matches while also holding a 128-87 shots advantage in the first half.

ON DECK
The top eight teams in the Northeast-10 standings will reach the conference playoffs. The Owls are currently in the sixth slot and if things stay the same will play on Nov. 2. The time and place of the match is not yet determined.
