A NEW SEASON BEGINS
The quest for a seventh national title begins this weekend for the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team as it opens the 2008 season with a tournament in Rindge, N.H. The Owls will battle Dominican College on Aug. 28 and the University of Bridgeport on Aug. 30. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. on both days.
RETURNING A STRONG CORE
SCSU will have some veteran experience this year with 11 returning players from last year's team.
IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team has been selected third in the 2008 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer Coaches' preseason poll.
IN LAST YEAR'S SEASON OPENER
SCSU took on Post University in last year's season opener. The Owls came away with a 1-0 victory in that contest.
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN IN THE BOOKS
For the 30th time in program history, the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2007. The Owls finished the year with a 14-2-5 overall record. In all, the Owls have appeared in a national semifinal 17 times in school history and have won six national championships (1987, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 1999), more than any other Division II program.
FARRIER TOOK HOME THE HARDWARE
Junior defender
Ancil Farrier collected plenty of accolades after an outstanding 2007 season in which he led the Owls in goals and points. Farrier took home First-Team All-America honors, while also receiving All-New England and All-Conference laurels. In addition, he also was named Most Valuable Player of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

Djordje Jankovic - were all tabbed for All-New England honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2007.
COLLECTING CONFERENCE HARDWARE
Six Owls were named to Northeast-10 All-Conference teams for their play in 2007.
Ancil Farrier and
Colin Jackson were both named First-Team All-Conference.
Djordje Jankovic and Sean O'Brien were both named Second-Team All-Conference, while junior defender
Ricardo Garcia and senior goalkeeper
Brendan Lawless were both named Third-Team All-Conference.
2007 NORTHEAST-10 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
Freshman midfielder
Brandin McClay's goal with 1:22 to play on Nov. 3 proved to be the game-winner, as the Owls won their first-ever Northeast-10 Tournament with a 2-1 triumph over Merrimack at Jess Dow Field. Previously, SCSU had won the NE-10 regular season title in 2000, 2001 and 2004.
LENDING A HELPING HAND (OR FOOT)
Junior midfielder
Djordje Jankovic seemed to be in a helpful mood on Sept. 22 vs. Southern New Hampshire. The Sabac, Serbia native recorded two assists in a 3-0 SCSU victory. It was the second two-assist effort of the season for Jankovic. Previously, he tallied two assists on Aug. 29 in a 2-2 tie against Le Moyne. On the season, Jankovic led the Owls with seven assists.
QUICK OUT OF THE GATE
The Owls enjoyed success in the first half in 2007. On the season, SCSU outscored its opponents 18-4 in the opening 45 minutes of matches while also holding an 128-87 shots advantage in the first half.

The Owls return to action Sept. 3 for the home opener against Post University at 7 p.m.
