TWO MORE CONFERENCE MATCHES THIS WEEK

The men's soccer team came away with a record of 1-1 last week, placing them in fifth place in the Northeast-10 conference standings. The Owls are now 4-4-2, 3-1-2 in NE-10 action and will play two tough conference matches this coming week. First, SCSU will travel to Worcester, Mass. on Sept. 30 to face Assumption College. COACH LANG ACHIEVES CAREER WIN NO. 300
Coach #Tom Lang# and the Owls defeated Bentley College on Saturday night at Jess Dow Field, by the final score of 2-1. With the win, Coach Lang reached a milestone that very few coaches can say they have achieved. Senior Ancil Farrier found Igor Santos who beat the Falcon goalkeeper in the closing minutes of the game for an exciting 2-1 victory. In 11 seasons with the Owls, Coach Lang has tallied 182 career wins, along with three 20 win seasons and two National Titles (1998, 1999).

TEMPLETON LEADING THE OFFENSE
Sophomore Paul Templeton scored his fourth goal of the season on Saturday night against Bentley College. Templeton is currently tied for sixth place in the total point's category in the Northeast-10 conference.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN IN THE BOOKS
For the 30th time in program history, the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2007. The Owls finished the year with a 14-2-5 overall record. In all, the Owls have appeared in a national semifinal 17 times in school history and have won six national championships (1987, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 1999), more than any other Division II program.

2007 NORTHEAST-10 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
Freshman midfielder Brandin McClay's goal with 1:22 to play on Nov. 3 proved to be the game-winner, as the Owls won their first-ever Northeast-10 Tournament with a 2-1 triumph over Merrimack at Jess Dow Field. Previously, SCSU had won the NE-10 regular season title in 2000, 2001 and 2004.

FARRIER TOOK HOME THE HARDWARE
Junior defender Ancil Farrier collected plenty of accolades after an outstanding 2007 season in which he led the Owls in goals and points. Farrier took home First-Team All-America honors, while also receiving All-New England and All-Conference laurels. In addition, he also was named Most Valuable Player of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

FOUR NAMED ALL-NEW ENGLAND
Four members of the men's soccer team - junior defender Ancil Farrier, senior forward Colin Jackson, sophomore defender Sean O'Brien and junior midfielder Djordje Jankovic - were all tabbed for All-New England honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2007.

COLLECTING CONFERENCE HARDWARE
Six Owls were named to Northeast-10 All-Conference teams for their play in 2007. Ancil Farrier and Colin Jackson were both named First-Team All-Conference. Djordje Jankovic and Sean O'Brien were both named Second-Team All-Conference, while junior defender Ricardo Garcia and senior goalkeeper Brendan Lawless were both named Third-Team All-Conference.
