Owls Fall Short to East Stroudsburg, 2-1

Nick DeProspo has had at least one hit in each of the Owls first three games.
MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team fell short to East Stroudsburg on Monday, 2-1 in Morehead City, N.C. Junior catcher Nick DeProspo (Worcester, Mass.) continues to swing the bat well, adding two more hits for the Owls. Southern is now 2-1 overall to begin the season and East Stroudsburg is 1-3 overall.

Senior co-captain Ed Bethke (Branford, Conn.) started for the Owls, throwing five innings and allowing one unearned run. Sophomore Ryan Yerina (Trumbull, Conn.) pitched four innings in relief and surrendered one unearned run as well. Freshman Mike Cleary (West Boylston, Mass.) hit a double to drive in Eric Schlitter (Guilford, Conn.) for the Owls only run.

Southern returns to the field on March 5 as it heads to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. to face Mercy at 3 p.m.
